Topic: Management of Common Sexual Health Issues in Men After Cancer         


Presenter: Joseph B. Narus, DNP, APRN, NP-BC

          Dr. Narus is a nurse practitioner in the Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He joined MSKCC in 2005 as the first nurse practitioner to manage the Penile Rehabilitation Program providing medical management of sexual dysfunction after cancer treatment. His main clinical and research focus is sexual dysfunction following cancer treatment and the role of nursing to improve quality of life outcomes.

          Joe received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from New York University College of Nursing. He also holds a Bachelor of Art degree in Asian Studies from Manhattanville. After receiving his Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing: Geriatrics, he was employed at the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York City from 1999 to 2005 where he became the first nurse practitioner to hold the positions of Associate Medical Director and then Clinical Director of Special Projects. Joe holds memberships in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Urologic Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society where he served as Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Upsilon Chapter, and the Sexual Medicine Society of North America which he was selected as one of two APRNs in the U.S to serve on the newly formed APN/PA Committee, and the first nurse practitioner to serve on the Communications Committee.
