PRESIDENT-ELECT

Frankie Hamilton, MBA, MSN, CPHQ, NEA-BC, CCRN-K, AGPCNP-BC

I currently work as the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx where I manage nursing operations for the inpatient units. I have a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Healthcare Management from Hofstra University, a Master's degree in Nursing Science with a concentration in Adult Gerontology from Hunter College, and an undergraduate nursing degree from Stony Brook University. I am currently enrolled in a PhD program in nursing science at New York University where I am studying alcohol use disorders in patients with limited English proficiency and plan to conduct an organizational assessment of Lincoln hospital with the hopes to improve substance use care for these patients. I also have nursing certifications in healthcare quality (CPHQ), critical care nursing (CCRN-K), and nursing leadership (NEA-BC).

I have been a nurse for 11 years and the two things I love most about nursing are the flexibility/versatility and the positive impact we have on our patients. I am the "go with the flow" type of guy and I love learning new things and trying new experiences. Nursing has afforded me the opportunity to work in various clinical settings, manage different types of units, gain valuable experience in quality management, and become expert in hospital operations.

The varied experiences I had over the years helped me get to where I am today and I am forever grateful for that. Secondly, the impact we have on the patients we care for is undeniable. I remember working as a clerical associate on an outpatient Leukemia clinic and the first person the patients always asked for was the nurse. I knew then, and I know now, that our patients look to us for comfort, care, and kindness. Not only are nurses clinical experts, but we are also experts in human caring and we leave an indelible mark on our patients.
